Oh my gosh. I cannot believe the first day is done already! This has got to be the best group of kids. They are so patient, fun, and caring. Watching them grow this year is going to be such a gift.
For the first day we reviewed rules, got to play a game chasing the gingerbread man around the building, and began creating a First Grade book. The kids had to sit through quite a bit of directions today from me, and many of the other teachers in the school but they were so great about it. They sat politely, had plenty of relevant things to contribute to the conversation, and applied the rules immediately!
The end of the day did end up feeling a little rushed and that was entirely my fault. We were busy with our books and I just did not realize how much time had gone by. So we packed up in a bit of a hurry and rushed out the door. The kids were real troopers about it and now that we know how everyone gets home things will run much more smoothly tomorrow.
I also want to say a quick apology to the parents that sent in supplies with their child today. I intended to get those unpacked during breaks or at least by the end of the day and things just did not work out that way. It's first thing on the schedule for tomorrow so they won't have to carry that stuff around anymore. Sorry about that!
Again, I cannot say enough how thankful I am to have all of your children in my class. This year is just going to be too much fun and I can't wait to share all of that with all of you!
